Art is a way of communicating what we see. I’ve spent most of my life watching people and trying to figure out what makes us tick. Whether it’s a look in the eye, a tilt of the head, or an arch of the back, we are always giving away clues to our story. My job is to capture that story in paint.
I work in oils, generally painting quickly and to a high level of rendering, although I also enjoy the freedom of loose brushstrokes.
I’ve written two books on the art of caricature, one with a foreword written by Kevin ‘KAL’ Kallaugher, and the other with a foreword by Derren Brown. These can be purchased here https://www.paulmoyse.com/books
For over 10 years, I’ve been teaching the art of caricature to students all over the world through my online course. Find out more here https://www.paulmoyse.com/caricature-course-easter-sale
Over the years, I have had the pleasure of drawing and painting for many clients, both private, commercial and celebrity. My clients have included: Penn and Teller, Tim Jenison, Derren Brown, Sir Paul McCartney, The Weekly Standard, Radio Times and many more.
In 2012 my portrait of Derren Brown was exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in London as part of the BP Portrait Awards Exhibition.
In my spare time, I’m a budding writer of short stories, novels and picture books. I’m as passionate about storytelling as I am about painting, though I have more evidence of one than of the other.
